Unpublished Diary page-3 Of a Home-maker.......
Every day we find at least one meme reminding us that we are from the era of near to extinct landline phones, puffed sleeves, bell bottoms, life sans internet, and also the time of disco beats .......how much we deny it but the truth is our offsprings evoke us to the world of reality as they think that we won’t be able to understand their life and challenges since for them we are precise, two generations old. ‘Yeh ikkisvin Sadi Ke bachhe jo thehre’ .....look at the audacity, in a moment they deny our existence in their lives.
The other day my son told me that I want to meet my girlfriend ...what should I do? ......can I ask her to come home or I have to go outside and meet her .....what a solid jolt I received?.... I knew it’s time to change myself or else had to retire from normal life and adopt Sanyaas .....I remembered my time when my classmate had to tolerate my father's insult and anger when he came to drop some notes of my missed lecture. And later on through Maa, My dear Paa perfectly did send the message that my no male classmate is allowed in the vicinity of our house, ever!!!!
An apt Sher by Akbar Allahabadi ‘log kehte hain ki Badnami se Bachna chahiye, Keh do unko Jawani ka Maza fir milta Kahan.’......Mere Khyaal se har Jawaani ki ek Kahani hoti hai.....Although, I had a full inclination of having my own story but happy and contented with being an active participant of my friend’s love story....it gave me enough chills and excitement 🥰😃...
Nowadays parents have no reservation about meeting their kid’s friends and be a warm host to them ......irrespective of the gender. But 30 years back it was not so acceptable in our middle-class society ....only a few, one or two, were allowed which they pass as a bhaiya or behan😜😁. My friend had a boyfriend but there was a persistent problem with a proper place where they can meet and it was only possible when the parents are out of the house for at least a few hours. The plan was perfectly chalked out and on one condition, that, she wanted me to be there with her as a shield to protect her if something goes wrong .......but her boyfriend also insisted on bringing his friend as he was scared to come alone ..... the very foolproof plan was outlined ....her mom uses to go out every noon till 5 pm for some work and by that time we thought of utilizing our time to the hilt 😃.
Finally, the D day arrived and I reached her house before her mother leaves for work ....we told her that today we are going to have a joint study session since exams are round the corner. Her mom prepared few dishes for our lunch so that we comfortably can study but she got slightly suspicious as we were too polite and extra caring towards her so she insisted on taking the day’s leave and stay home to take care of our requirements......but after an urgent phone call, she left the house in a jiffy. What a relief?😉😁
Those days mobile phones were not present......so immediately call was placed from the very adorable landline phone📞☎️to her BF and within minutes they reached home....excitement was boundless and energy was bubbling like a pint of fresh beer 🍺🍺.....
Today I had to be a good host in her house as I was super excited to satiate their taste buds with my limited culinary skill and give her full opportunity to spend time with her BF, not every day we get the chance to do so. I asked the three of them to excuse me ... en attendant they can just gossip and I hope to be back in few minutes with a tray laden with goodies...😋😋.
Like a shot, I heard a screeching sound of the car tire coming to the halt in the adjoining parking and I could sense of some inopportune moment, so I ran to check the mayhem.......Oh my God !!!...instantly I remembered the lacuna in our foolproof plan .....in excitement we forgot to close the main gate of the bungalow ......as I jumped to check the visitor .....immediately I asked all three of them to move to the other room from the drawing-room.....the last thing we could expect ....Right on the front door aunty standing and staring at me .....Consequential trepidation numbed my senses........... literally it became a chilling experience... Dear Aunty was repeatedly asking me to open the jaali ka Darwaza....for the very first time I thanked the inventors of the net door which protect us from insects and mosquitoes...we were instead protected from Aunty’s presence right inside the drawing-room, today a barrier created otherwise she could barge inside instantly...😗😗😏.....no time to regret our deeds😳😩.........I opened the door and in the intervening period, my friend with her both the friends vanished inside the bedroom...Now something very hilarious and unexpected happened ....house was constructed in such a way that all four rooms were attached but the last room had only one door ....As aunty was asking about her daughter I had to tell her that she may be in the kitchen or in the adjoining room...as Aunty was moving from one room to other in search of her daughter ...my other three acquaintances were moving behind her in circular motion .....yaar Bachpan Yaad Gaya... literally I was the witness of live movie replay of hiding and seek game.....here police was unaware that actually, she is searching a culprit .....I had to put in a lot of effort to control my laughter ....😂😂😂😂😂....this merry-go-round movement went on for close to 5 minutes😅.
In this commotion......By God’s grace 🥰...these three got the opportunity to move to the back lawn as they were scared to get stuck in the last room which had only one door. The lawn in the backyard had a boundary wall of medium size and behind this boundary wall was a concrete narrow lane...Meanwhile, I served aunty a glass of water and also asked her to sit down and relax...Tea is one of the best options to please somebody ....it is definitely all seasons drink☕️...I could see some uneasiness in her gesture as she couldn’t locate her darling daughter......
Suddenly a sound of loud thud echoed from the backyard lawn .....immediately I ran and left the boiling water to imitate our emotions in the pan ....since I was too scared to do so in front of aunty😆.......and as soon as I reached the lawn ...saw my dear friend rolling on the green grass along with the chair lying next to her in upside-down position .....with little help she got up limping and in this havoc Aunty also reached to enquire, that exactly what is going on......in whispering tone my friend told me that both the boys had jumped in the narrow lane with the help of chair .......everything was going smoothly but as she was standing on the wall with the chair in one hand couldn’t balance and she fell......the best part was saved for the last😛😛😛....Hearing the loud thud both the guys got so scared and concerned that they couldn’t stop screaming from the other side... “Tu theek to hai...to theek to hai”....who on earth can explain them...For God's sake....’ shut your mouth’...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
All is well that ends well ....somehow, Aunty, as an overprotective mother took care of her physical bruises and I definitely nursed her mental trauma😅😆. Long back I learned another very precious lesson that it’s ok to be a friend of our kids ...at least we can share with them and be a good FPG.....Nahi samjhe ....arre yaar ...it stands for Friend philosopher and guide ...if they need be❤️🥰, that’s important!!!!😁😁
Hahaha wow aunty really nice and funny.....actually rolling on the floor laughing (rofl) 🤣🤣😝
